夜晚，路灯下的贝拉库拉港、装卸码头上。

　　装卸场在一个台阶下面。在项目经理格登和工头鲍勃的指挥下，工人们将一个个箱子从卡车上搬下，运送到码头前堆放，准备装船。

　　码头旁边的停车场，几辆小车开来，戴安、菲尔、辛笛儿、雪丽等人下车，跑下台阶，进入装卸场。

　　格登和鲍勃看见他们，上前来阻拦。

　　格登：Hey, hey, hey! Just stay out of the working area! (喂喂喂，你们不许到工作地段来！)

　　众人没有理会格登和鲍勃，走进码头工作地段，拦在中间。工人们工作不便，只好停止搬运。

　　格登拿出手机拨打：Please send a group of security guards here. Some unidentified people are blocking our work. (请派一个保安小组过来。一些不明身份的人阻碍了我们的工作。)

　　几名保安跑步过来。

　　保安甲：Please leave at once. This is private property and you’re not allowed to trespass. (请马上离开。这是私人财产，你们不得进入。)

　　戴安：Sir, do you know what they are doing They’re going to log the Great Bear Rainforest. They are destroying our precious natural legacy! Just think about it. (先生，你知道他们要去干什么吗？他们要去砍伐大熊雨林。他们在破坏我们宝贵的自然遗产！好好想想吧。)

　　保安甲：You may be right, Miss. But that’s not my business. Please go and talk this to the Government. Let me tell you what, Miss. My job is to assure work in the harbour not disrupted by any irrelevant people. (你可能是对的，小姐。但这不关我的事。请去向政府谈这件事。告诉你，小姐，我的工作是保证港口的秩序不受任何无关人员干扰。)

　　保安贴近众人，逼迫众人离开。

　　戴安：We leave! (我们走！)

　　众人步步后退，保安步步进逼。众人退上台阶。在台阶顶上，亚当斯停住不动。保安贴近他。

　　亚当斯高声：We stop! This is the public place. (我们停下。这是公共的地方。)

　　众人停步。保安贴近他们站住，不再进逼，也不离去。

　　工人们继续搬运箱子。

　　雪丽扭头张望。她旁边是一个花圃台子。她转身跳上台子。保安追过来，伸手要抓她。

　　雪丽指着保安：Don’t touch me! Otherwise I’m gonna sue you. (别碰我！否则我要告你！)

　　保安收手，站在台子下，守着雪丽。

　　雪丽高声：My dear friends, just think about a big family. Mom was breeding, feeding and protecting the brothers and sisters. At the beginning, the siblings were getting along well and the big family was living in harmony and happiness…(亲爱的朋友们，请想象一个大家庭。母亲养育和保护着家里的兄弟姐妹们。开始的时候，兄弟姐妹们相亲相爱，大家庭生活和睦、幸福美满……)

　　随着雪丽的演讲，人们仿佛看到了美丽而安详的原始森林……

　　工人们停下搬运，站在原地听雪丽演讲。

　　雪丽高声：But one day, the biggest brother thought that he deserved better food and a more comfortable house. He started to take food from his younger brothers and sisters. And then he destroyed the houses of his siblings and took the construction materials to build himself a larger and better house. Some of the brothers and sisters died and some fled…(但有一天，大哥认为他应该吃得更好，要住一栋更舒适的房屋。他开始抢弟弟妹妹的饭吃，接着拆毁他们的房屋，用那些建筑材料将自己的房子修得更大更好。结果使得兄弟姐妹逃的逃、死的死……)

　　人们的头脑中出现：森林采伐，鸟兽受惊消散，非洲荒漠化的凄凉景象。

　　西岸雨林保护会的成员和辛笛儿朝雪丽围拢过来，保安和工人们也都围拢过来。人人聚精会神地听雪丽演讲。戴安和菲尔频频点头。格登在后面气得直跺脚。

　　鲍勃问格登：What’re we gonna do (我们怎么办？)

　　雪丽高声：The biggest brother was happy and thought he could live his happy life forever by himself and without his brothers and sister. But Mom became angry and deprived him of everything. He ended up living in starvation and poverty, living on bad food and in poor shelters…(大哥非常高兴，以为没了兄弟姐妹，他一个人可以永远过上这样的幸福生活。可是，母亲生气了，剥夺了他的一切。结果他只能生活在饥饿和贫困当中，吃着劣质食物、住着破草房……)

　　人们的头脑中出现：干旱、洪水、泥石流、地震等地质灾害、受灾的人们。

　　戴安对菲尔小声：Now I know what you meant by saying you have “a good persuader.”(现在我明白，你说你们有一个“演说家”是什么意思了。)

　　雪丽高声：Mom is our Earth, and the brothers and sisters are the white Spirit Bears and other species living in the Great Bear Rainforest, which gives them food and houses. Now, I am asking you: Who is the biggest brother �C the bad guy (母亲就是我们的地球，而兄弟姐妹就是生活在大熊雨林里的雪熊和其他生物，雨林给它们提供了食物和住所。现在，我问你们，谁是那个大哥――那个坏蛋？)

　　工人们低头思索。保安们也低下了头。

　　菲尔跳上花圃台子，站在雪丽的身边。

　　菲尔：We human beings are the bad guy! And what you are doing now is to rob food from your brothers and sisters, and destructing the houses of your brothers and sisters! (我们人类就是这个坏蛋！而你们现在要做的，就是去抢我们兄弟姐妹的粮食，去拆毁我们兄弟姐妹的房屋！)

　　雪丽舒了口气、向菲尔投去感激的一瞥：Oh, thank you, Phil. (哦，谢谢你，菲尔！)

　　工人们交头接耳地议论起来。

　　雪丽扭头对辛笛儿：Cindy, please come here. (辛笛儿，请到这里来。)

　　辛笛儿走过来，菲尔将辛笛儿拉上花圃台子。

　　雪丽高声：My dear friends, this is Ms. Xin from China. Do you want to know why she’d like to visit Canada (我的朋友们，这位是从中国来的辛小姐。你们想知道她为什么要来访问加拿大吗？)

　　雪丽对辛笛儿：Cindy, tell them why. (辛笛儿，说说为什么。)

　　辛笛儿稍稍紧张：Before, before I came, I knew it is beautiful here. But after these days traveling around, I know that I am completely overwhelmed by the natural beauty of Canada. (在我来之前，我知道这里很美。但经过这几天的旅游，我感到我已经完全被加拿大的自然美景所征服。)

　　雪丽跟辛笛儿握手：Thank you, Cindy. Thank you very much! (谢谢你，辛笛儿！非常感谢你！)

　　雪丽抬头高声：Who would come if we had destroyed our natural beauty, had destroyed the Great Bear Rainforest Nobody! Then, who would suffer We, we Canadian, our families, our parents, brothers and sisters, our sons and daughters, and our friends. The Canadian economy would suffer, and we would lose our Jobs. (如果我们破坏了自然环境，毁掉了大熊雨林，谁还会来？没人再来！那么受害的是谁？是我们加拿大人，我们的家庭，我们的父母、兄弟姐妹、儿女，还有朋友。加拿大的经济会受损害，我们将失去工作。)

　　工人们的议论声变大。

　　工人甲高声：No, we’re not the bad guy! We’re not gonna do that! (不，我们不是那个坏蛋。我们不能这么做！)

　　工人乙高声：We’re not gonna destroy our natural beauty. We’re not gonna destroy the Great Bear Rainforest! (我们不能破坏自然美景！我们不能破坏大熊雨林！)

　　众工人齐声：We’re not gonna destroy the Great Bear Rainforest! (我们不能破坏大熊雨林！)

　　格登先气得脸色发白，胸膛起伏。接着他冷静下来，带头鼓起掌来。众人将怀疑的目光投向他。格登见时机已到，跑上台阶，跳上另一个花圃台子。

　　格登对雪丽：Thank you for your moving story. (谢谢你的动人故事！)(转向工人，大声：)You may lose your job in the future as she depicted. But who knows It may happen 30 or 40 years later when you’ll retire. Or it would never happen. But…(也许像她描述的那样，你们会在将来失去工作。但谁知道呢？也许这会在三、四十年你们退休之后才会发生。也许根本就不会发生。但是……)(停顿，用目光扫视工人们。)

　　工人甲：But what (但是什么？)

　　格登拉长语调：But, I’m pretty sure that you would lose your job at once if you don’t do your job now! (但是，我可以肯定地告诉你们，如果你们现在不接着干活，你们就会马上丢掉工作！)

　　工人们站着不动。

　　工人甲：Are you threatening us(你在威胁我们吗？)

　　鲍勃：Shut up! Get back to work! (闭嘴！给我干活！)

　　格登：I’m not threatening you but reminding you, guys. For each of your position, I have two people on my waiting list. I can also assure you that you wouldn’t find any job in the logging industry if you quit today. (伙计们，我不是威胁你们，只是想给你们提个醒。你们每一个人的职位，我都有两个人在排队等候着。如果你们今天辞职了，我可以向你们保证，你们别想再找到伐木业的工作。)

　　工人低下头，默默地回去干活。亚当斯气得上前，将格登从花圃上扯下来要打他。保安急忙上前，架开亚当斯。

　　不久，工人们将机器设备全部搬上船。船开离港口。

　　西岸雨林保护会的成员们站在台阶上，无声地看着掠国公司的运输船远离港口。天色渐明。

　　森林中，阳光斜穿树林照下，使得整片树林阳光明媚。

　　绿色的树叶上，露珠被阳光照射得晶莹闪耀。树枝上，鸟鸣啾啾。树根下，数朵野蘑菇站立在潮湿的枯树叶上。近处，两只松鼠在觅食。

　　一处岩壁下。刘俊豪和夏洛特手牵着手，肩靠着肩，靠在岩壁上闭眼睡觉。阳光照到了他们的身体，照到了他们的脸。刺眼的阳光使得刘俊豪感觉不舒服，他皱了皱眉头。

　　觅食的松鼠朝这边走来，突然吱吱地叫着从两人的脚前跑过。

　　刘俊豪惊醒，猛然站了起来。因他手拉夏洛特，夏洛特也被惊醒，猛然站起。

　　夏洛特：What’s wrong (怎么了？)

　　刘俊豪指着跑远的松鼠：Sorry. Just the squirrels. (抱歉，两只松鼠。)

　　夏洛特看了一眼手表：Oh, we’re late. (天，我们晚了。)

　　刘俊豪：What time is it (几点了？)

　　夏洛特：Already 7. Let’s go. (七点了。我们走吧。)

　　刘俊豪：Where are we going (我们去哪里？)

　　夏洛特伸手到自己牛仔裤屁股后面的口袋摸索，什么也没摸到。她转身弯腰，在岩壁前的地上寻找。

　　刘俊豪：What’re you looking for (你在找什么？)

　　夏洛特：The map. I think I’ve lost it. (地图。我可能弄丢了。)

　　刘俊豪打开背包，从里面拿出一份复印地图来，递给夏洛特。

　　刘俊豪：I have a spare copy. (我多印了一份。)
